Executive Director for Girls on The Run

The Girls on the Run (GOTR) Executive Director must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades in Kent and Muskegon counties. The GOTR program provides a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy living that includes an introduction and education on important topics such as goal-setting, cooperation, healthy decision-making and self-respect while training for a 5K event.  The innovative curriculum teaches girls to listen and open up while also encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle and harness their inner strength. Our important mission is accomplished by giving girls the tools to make positive choices for a healthy body and mind while reducing the many risks they face today.

 

The GOTR Executive Director is responsible for the overall implementation of the GOTR mission. The Executive Director reports to the GOTR local Board of Directors. Job responsibilities include developing and implementing the overall strategy and vision for the GOTR program and all organizational and operational aspects of GOTR, including its administration, financial operations, revenue generation, program development and activities, personnel management and strategic planning. Some of the key responsibilities within these areas include:

 

Community Engagement:

·Build the GOTR brand and reputation throughout Kent and Muskegon counties

·Identify and grow corporate and community partnerships

·Strengthen relationships with the local media and serve as the GOTR primary contact to market the program and build additional community support

·Act as ambassador to represent GOTR’s mission and programs

 

Organizational Administration:

·Ensure the organization is in compliance with all laws and guidelines governing nonprofit organizations and the GOTR International membership agreement, policies and guidelines

·Develop and implement necessary policies and procedures, business systems and strategies

·Maintain ethical standards and accountability, manage risk, perform due diligence and implement operational best practices

·In coordination with the Board, identify and plan for infrastructure growth to parallel growth of program

 

Financial Management & Fund Development:

·Plan and manage GOTR’s budget and finances in coordination with the Board

·Maintain processes for proper record keeping and internal financial controls

·With the Board Treasurer and finance staff, review and report all financial activities to the board on a regular basis

·Review analysis of financial activities (income and expense) to discern trends, identify areas of improvement, address problems and develop forecasts

·Develop diverse funding streams and long-term plans to best support the mission and goals of the organization

·Oversee fundraising efforts, including sponsorship, donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, grants, special events, etc

·Actively participate in donor cultivation and solicitation

·Develop collaborative projects and partnerships with other community providers

·Partner with GOTR  International to maximize cause-related marketing and other national opportunities locally

 

Program Development and Strategic Planning:

·Plan, in coordination with the Board and staff, for the direction and leadership of the     overall program

·Cultivate relationships with coaches, donors, parents, participants, sponsors and volunteers

·Integrate a strong diversity, equity and inclusion lens into all activities

 

Program and Staff Management:

·Maintain appropriate staffing structure and oversee recruiting, training, development  and evaluation of staff

·Develop and foster a strong and open dialogue with the Board of Directors and GOTR International

·Maintain integrity and consistency of GOTR programming and curriculum

   
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be comfortable engaging in strategic activities and taking a hands-on role with regards to program execution and administrative issues. Required qualifications are as follows:

·Bachelor’s degree

·Minimum of three to five years of demonstrated experience with organizational management

·Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams

·Passion for GOTR’s mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health

·Outstanding communication skills in multiple environments and with diverse audiences (internal and external)

·Demonstrated experience setting and managing budgets and financial forecasting

·Fundraising experience

·Experience working with a Board of Directors

·Connections to the local community

·Ability to multitask, prioritize and make efficient decisions

Travel:

Weekly travel throughout Kent and Muskegon counties

 

Compensation:

Starting at $48,000; full-time (32 hours/week average); no benefits offered at this time
