Tracy Garrett is the Director of Candidate & Campaign Support at SMG Strategies.
Tracy is like the duct tape in your toolkit: multi-purpose, always seems to be there when you need her most, and sure to hold it all together. Through message development, debate coaching, and public speaking training, Tracy helps candidates find their authentic voice. Far from being a political talking head, Tracy will help you understand and speak to your audience’s needs and motivations while staying true to your own story.
And her attention to detail means she can also help candidates and campaigns stay accountable to that story, especially the promises made and the rules of the game. While you connect with your community, she is behind-the-scenes taking care of the more tedious details, such as campaign finance reporting and financial tracking.
Tracy cut her teeth in political campaign training as the Great Lakes Regional Fellow and a debate and public speaking trainer for The White House Project. She also serves as the Outreach and Publications Director at First United Methodist Church of Holland, and is an Election Inspector for the City of Holland.
She built a career in program and fund development with several Michigan government and non-profit social service organizations, including Community Action House, Center for Women in Transition, Ottawa County Community Action Agency, and the City of Holland Human Relations Commission’s Housing Committee.
Tracy loves to broaden her global understanding and empathy through humanitarian missions, including post-earthquake school and church construction in Thomas, Haiti, providing basic health care in Lithuania, post-Katrina home rebuilds in Biloxi, MS, and working with Service Over Self in Memphis, TN. She has also studied in Poland and Australia, and earned her bachelor degree in Public and Non-Profit Administration from Grand Valley State University.
